About

In 2024, the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health’s Office of Social Health Sciences and Programs partnered with a private foundation to improve rural health care. Together, they set out to build strong partnerships and support innovative solutions that expand access to high-quality health care in rural communities across Wisconsin and beyond. The Orion Initiative brings this shared mission to life. Learn how we work with rural partners to improve access to care.

Our vision: People living in rural communities will have full access to high-quality health care.
